“We hope to raise £5,000 towards a guide dog puppy by offering beauty specials with a doggy theme. You can imagine the sort of thing – ‘if you’re dog-eared, dog-tired, or just a bit of a dog’s dinner, then bound along to Bliss Beauty, where one of our dogsbodies will give your paws a pedigree pedicure, trim your coat, or polish up any of your other important little places! In addition, as it’s the Chinese Year of the Dog, Bliss is offering Chinese Bio-Rhythms (like horoscopes) Evenings for groups in people’s own homes, all of which goes into the fund.
“And we hope that other businesses will get in on the act too. The accountancy firm Hyson’s are literally going to the dogs at Wimbledon Stadium on the 24th by wearing dogs ears and donating to the campaign! Various people are running, having sales & car boot sales, jive dances, horse rides, duck races and dog look-alike quiz’s. Monthly raffles for ‘dog tired people’, bag packing, street and workplace collections are being planned. Also on offer is a ‘dog-sitting’ service, others are paying £1 to wear dog ears at work for the day.
“We need dog ear makers urgently, so calling all schools, and all age groups to volunteer or anyone simply having a whip(pet)-round at their regular class, session or meeting. Are there any organisations such as Pubs, Clubs, activity groups who would be willing to help in fund raising, any Companies who would be prepared to have a collection or a sponsored event, or any Summer Fete organisers who would give us some space?
All contributions or ideas, from large to small would be a howling success.
